Christopher Bochmann

Nasceu em 1950. Com 9 anos ingressou no coro da Capela de S. Jorge, Castelo de Windsor. Aos 16 anos, foi estudar a Paris com Nadia Boulanger antes de ingressar na Universidade de Oxford (New College), onde estudou com David Lumsden, Kenneth Leighton e Robert Sherlaw Johnson. Ainda completou os seus estudos com aulas particulares com Richard Rodney Bennett. Tem os graus de B.A.(Hons.), B.Mus, M.A. e D.Mus, todos da Universidade de Oxford; em 2009 fez a Agregação na Universidade de Évora. Em 2004 foi-lhe atribuído a Medalha de Mérito Cultural do Ministério da Cultura, Portugal; em 2005 foi agraciado pela rainha D.Isabel II com a condecoração O.B.E.

Christopher Bochmann tem dividido as suas actividades entre a composição, o ensino e a direcção e tem trabalhado na Inglaterra, no Brazil e, desde 1980, em Portugal.
Actualmente, é Professor na Universidade de Évora.

Was born in 1950. As a boy he sang in the choir of St.George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. At the age of 16, he went to study with Nadia Boulanger in Paris, before going up to Oxford University (New College), where he studied with David Lumsden, Kenneth Leighton and Robert Sherlaw Johnson. He also had private lessons with Richard Rodney Bennett. He holds the degrees of B.A.(Hons.), B.Mus, M.A. e D.Mus, all from the University of Oxford. In 2004 he was awarded a Medal of Cultural Merit by the Ministry of Culture, Portugal; in 2005 he was decorated by Queen Elizabeth II with the O.B.E.
Christopher Bochmann has divided his activities between composition, teaching and conducting and has lived in England, Brazil and, since 1980, in Portugal. At present, he works at the School of the Arts of the University of Évora.
